Hard to pin to a cause. It seems that after the second click in the browser the JVM starts to pump up its heap while putting full load on one CPU core.

This does not happen with previous JDK releases including JDK 6 Update 17.

Finally been able to find the cause: the current version of Saxon XSLT bundled with pulse.

Will publish fix (minor XSL changes and library upgrade).

This has been a hard one...
